At first, The Comfort Killers goal and mission was to teach millions how to get uncomfortable to think better, act better and live better but then we realized that we haven’t done a good job at explaining what ‘better’ actually is and we also failed at providing the roadmap that can allow people to get ‘better’ and see the results of their self-improvement.
The problem that I personally found with changing my life for the better was two-fold. First, I didn’t know where to start and second how to start. I was addicted to gambling for 9 years and I felt drained emotionally, spiritually, socially, mentally and financially. I didn’t wake up one day and say whoa, I need to stop this shit or else I’m going to die broke and broken. It took a lot pain, hurt, tears and struggle for me to get to the point of making new decisions that will move my life in a positive direction. I started small. Getting uncomfortable takes baby steps …and I realize that I had to crawl, walk and then run.
I listened to hundreds of podcasts, read books, listened to audio programs, and finally decided to go to my first seminar. On Valentine’s Day weekend in 2016, I attended a Wealth Mindset seminar that ultimately changed the direction of my decisions…not because the seminar was inspiring, but because I realized that the one thing that stops people from achieving anything in life was inaction.
As I looked around the room full of old and young people, I seen in them what I’ve always saw in me: I was looking for shortcuts, sympathy and validation. I didn’t believe in myself or capabilities … I didn’t have purpose. When I left that seminar, I was super energized because things became clear and obvious as to why I wasn’t getting the results in my life. It was because I was insane.
The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and over again ..but each time expecting a different result. I was the walking definition. I ran home from the seminar and came home and made the decision to completely change my life!
1. Making a Decision
Our members understand this concept fully: We have to make a decision if we want to move from comfort to purpose. There is no other way around it. Many gurus would tell you to commit first, but I disagree. There has to be a concrete, solid decision without input from anybody else. This decision is all you. It’s all of your energy and identity pounded into one single decision. Then, you will begin to open doors that leads to other decisions and new opportunities.
“You are only entitled to opportunity. Nothing else.”
2. Confront What Held You Back
On the road to purpose you have got to confront things that scared you in the past. You have to control your fear and face the skeletons in your closet. This may mean the lies you’ve told yourself, the broken promises, your procrastinating ways, your unethical ways, your problems, your past. When you confront every part of your area it changes the effect it has on you. For instance, my gambling addiction was a biological mess. I would feel things happen inside me to speed up my heart, and get my juices going. I had to confront these feelings and take control of them.. these were the feelings that previously avoided all logic and reason. I had to deal with them internally first and apply new logic and reason. After a few months, the feelings subsided.
“The very act of looking at something, changes its behavior”
3. Commit To Doing The Opposite
This is a concept that was mind-blowing for me because I broke everything down to black or white. The lights on …it’s not off. I’m either doing or not doing. I’m winning or losing. I’m writing the book or I’m not. So, I commit myself by definition to do the opposite of what held me back. Gamble or don’t gamble. It became simple and by committing, I was holding myself accountable to the action I was taking. It was either that or I was lying to myself, which then boils down to the hard programming of my subconscious. I was subconsciously sabotaging myself if I broke my own promises to myself.
“Stop worrying about everyone lying to you..when you can’t stop lying to yourself”
4. Creating The Identity You Want
The final step to purpose is create. The concept behind creation is as follows: you were born to create but we’ve been taught to consume. We were born with the energy of life and with features of the creator but yet we don’t use our power. We ask for validation, we seek out permission or worse we don’t do anything at all. We stand still. In order to see this step in action, just look outside. The cars, building, houses, technology, phones, pen, computer, chairs, bridges were all before particles of thought that was materialized and manifested in the physical universe. We go even deeper … instead of pushing against the wall. Isn’t it easier to create the identity of the person who believes that they are creator and they are at cause? I think so.
“I look outside for the beauty of the world, and the universe shares with me the wonders within myself”
I must say that it took me 3 years to map out this roadmap that I know will help people understand
- Who they are and what they want
- Find their true purpose
- And, go grab a piece of their freedom
